Mathematics for Engineering Science
ScopeMaster courses at the TU Chemnitz require a well founded basic knowledge of higher mathematics. Bachelor courses at the TU Chemnitz provide this knowledge by a series of lectures on higher mathematics. It is important for all applicants to familiarize with the required level of mathematical knowledge. The course Mathematics for Engineering Science provides the basic mathematics required for master students in the engineering science at the TU Chemnitz. The course is divided into two parts: an optional pre-course and a mandatory short course.
Corona PandemicsDue to the current Corona pandemics the course will be entirely online. This includes live video lectures, live video consultations and online exercises and examinations.
The Pre-CourseThe pre-course covers the topics basic arithmetics and analytical geometry. Master applicants at the TU Chemnitz are encauraged to familiarize with the required level through our online learning platform OPAL. In order to attend the pre-course proceed as follows:
- basic analysis: functions, complex numbers, inequalities, exponential and logarithmic function
- basic analytical geometry: description of points, lines and planes in Euclidean space, distances and angles
The Short CourseThe short course will take place during the first two month of the first semester and consists of lectures, exercises and examination. It will cover the topics
Students with delayed immatriculation to the TU Chemnitz are strongly encouraged to register at OPAL from outside of the TU Chemnitz and to start working on the exercises before immatriculation.
First Time Registration for Students of the TU ChemnitzStudents of the TU Chemnitz have to enroll into the online short course.
Free Course AccessThe faculty of mathematics at the TU Chemnitz wants to help applicants for a master course to testify their mathematical understanding and to raise it to the required level. To this end the faculty of mathematics offers all online exercises of the short course covering all required mathematical disciplines except for the mandatory examinations which has to be passed locally at the TU Chemnitz.
The access to the online test is free. There is no restriction in the number of attempts. In contrary, participants are encouraged to familiarize with the mathematical topics using the supplementary material linked within the tests and to repeat the tests until they pass.
