Research interests

Automatic anisotropic mesh refinement for FEM:
  • Our current approach is based on optimising node positions in a given initially uniform coarse mesh.
  • Aim is now to investigate alternative approaches that allow hierarchical refinement.

Shape optimisation and optimal control of PDEs:
  • Shape optimisation has been a core topic of our PhD Thesis.
  • We hope to combine adaptive mesh refienement with the control approaches based on Riccati equations.

Efficient solutions strategies for linear systems arising from PDE discretisations:
  • Application of Multigrid.
  • Application of Schur-complement preconditioners for Stokes and Oseen equations.
